Netflix has released a new “Evolving” featurette for its next movie Resident Evil series. The video offers some new and interesting information about the story that the series will tell along with the monsters and characters that fill it. Also includes lots of footage from the series!
This series looks better than I expected and will be filled with all kinds of crazy action horror. The featurette includes interviews with the writer and executive producer Mary Lia Suttonshowrunner Andrea Dabbalong with cast members.
The story is set 14 years after a world apocalypse caused by a deadly virus in the year 2036, “14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker ((Ella Balinska)) fights for survival in a world overrun by infected and mad bloodthirsty creatures. In this utter carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, her father’s chilling ties to the Umbrella Corporation, but most of all by what happened to her sister Billie. “
Jade is the daughter of Albert Wesker, played in the series by Launch Reddick. Showrunner Andrea Dabb previously explained that they took “all the games and mixed them together” for this series. She also promises “a gripping puzzle mystery stitched together on two timelines”. One of these deadlines is set in 2036 and the other dates back to the year 2022.
It is also explained that “The brand new expansion to the series brings the best of the series Resident Evil DNA forward: tough heroines, crazy creatures (some new / some familiar), a battle for survival and, of course, a profound mystery to unravel. Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) expands directions with fresh storytelling, thrilling horror, and an action-packed show that’s perfect for summer binges.
The show is also the protagonist Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rodolfo, Paola Nunez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor GossattiAnd Turlough Convery. Andrea Dabb (Supernatural) acts as showrunner / executive producer / writer with Mary Lia Sutton as an executive producer / writer.
Resident Evil will be released on July 14, 2022
