‘Andor’, the next ‘Star Wars’ series What we will see on Disney + on August 31st, he decided to structure his plot in a very concise and peculiar way. Tony Gilroy, showrunner of this prequel to ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ (of which he was the writer), wanted to explain this approach. making it clear that this television drama will span several galactic years through a handful of time jumps.

He did so in statements to Empire, an American media that too released a new exclusive image with Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård. In the interview Gilroy points out that ‘Andor’ will extend over five years, as opposed to, for example, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, a recent series in the aforementioned saga that lasted only a few days (maxing out week and a little). So while this adventure led by Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen barely made use of temporal ellipses and only included a couple of flashbacks, the fiction led by the rebel spy played by Luna will travel for several years through 24 episodes distributed in two seasons.
The first season, which dates back to five years before “Rogue One”, will cover about a year of Cassian’s life as an agent of the rebellion. Conversely, season 2 will use the same number of episodes to cover four years as we will see a time jump every three episodes..
“It’s a series designed on a large scale”says Gilroy. “The directors work in blocks of three episodes, so we made four blocks [en la temporada 1] three episodes each. After [viendo esta estructura] we thought: ‘Wow, it would be very interesting if we used each block to represent a year’. Like this, from a narrative point of view, we will get one year closer to each block. It is really exciting to be able to work on something that is considered a “Friday, Saturday and Sunday” after which you skip a year “..
very ambitious
Despite being scheduled to take place over a tremendously specific time frame, “Andor” is not lacking in ambition. With Gilroy at the helm and Luna reprising the role of “Rogue One”, this “Star Wars” series aims high, completing its cast with Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. We will also see Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma completing the luxury side team.. Obviously, according to Luna himself, this time the story will focus more on his character. “‘Rogue One’ is more about an event than the characters’ true journey. It’s great to start a series thinking about the way forward rather than where we’re going to end”.
