In the 1990s, Tim Allen was the actor chosen to voice Buzz in ‘Toy Story’; however, he was never heard in his character’s solo film, “Lightyear”. The truth is that the actor has made it clear that he has not participated in the new project because he believes that he has no relation to the original Pixar work.

Despite Tim Allen was the one who voiced Buzz Lightyear during the four films of ‘toy story’, he wasn’t the one to play the famous astronaut in the new Pixar production. Instead, it was Chris Evans who was heard every time the character spoke, something that many were delighted with but still expected the sound of the original voice.

In an interview with Extra, Tim Allen revealed that the reason he did not attend ‘Light year’was because he felt that the film had no connection with “Toy Story” and, as such, with his character. Not to mention that it was a completely new piece of equipment that was completely unrelated to the ’90s gear that gave birth to Disney’s most famous toys.

I abstained because it has nothing to do with it [el Buzz de ‘Toy Story’]. It is a new team that has nothing to do with the first films (…) It is a wonderful story but it has no connection with the toy. It just has nothing to do with Buzz, “explained the actor.

The actor is not wrong in saying that they are neither the same character nor that they are different stories, because while he gave life to Andy’s toy; Chris Evans plays the real astronaut who inspired the doll an entire generation grew up watching on the big screen.

The “Toy Story” Buzz is not the “Lightyear” Buzz

The origin story of the Buzz Lighyear toy we see in the four “Toy Story” films is summed up in the fact that the doll factory was inspired by a real astronaut from that world and a fictional one for ours. It’s the universe of these Pixar productions, Buzz is the toy, and Lightyear is someone who went into space and faced unthinkable things out there.

In ‘Lightyear’ the story of the real astronaut who inspired the toy is told. He talks about his trip out of Earth in which, accompanied by an entire crew, he faces situations in the outside world that he never thought he would have to face. That’s why it makes sense that one is played by Tim Allen and another by Chris Evans.

Currently, ‘Lightyear’ is in theaters as one of the most controversial Pixar films of recent years. It is expected that after more than forty days of appearing on the international billboard, the film will be able to move to the Disney Plus streaming platform.
