Disney has decided to ignore Peter Dinklage’s complaints and move on with the live-action remake of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” … with the Seven Dwarfs. In January, the Game of Thrones actor commented that the project that will see Rachel Zegler as Snow White in the flesh was quite scary due to the possible stereotypes she might perpetuate about people with dwarfism: “I was a little surprised that they were so proud to hire a Latin actress like Snow White, but they will continue to tell the story of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Stop for a moment and see what you are doing. It doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re progressive on one hand, but then they keep telling this backstory about seven dwarves living together in a hut, what the fuck are you doing?. It didn’t take Disney long to respond with a statement assuring them that they took their complaints very seriously and that they would make all pertinent changes to the characters so that they would not be offensive to the community with dwarfism, and that have consulted people with dwarfism a “avoid reinforcing the stereotypes of the original film”.

Now that filming is in the final stages, we already know the identity of one of the friends Snow White will meet once she enters the forest on the run from the hunter. This is Martin Klebba, whom you will remember from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. The actor confirmed in a video recorded from a convention in Denver that he will be in charge of playing Grouch. In the video she claims that she has finished filming and that we will see the film next year. The actor has not provided any details of his character or of those changes compared to the animated classic that would make it more appropriate to the current times.

What do we know about the new “Snow White”?

Klebba is the only member of the Seven Dwarfs that has been confirmed so far. Although the shooting must be almost finished, for now we only know that the protagonist will be Zegler, Gal Gadot will play the Evil Queen and Andrew Burnap (“WeCrashed”) will play Jonathana character created specifically for the film.

Marc Webb, director of “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “500 Days Together”, is at the helm of the project with a screenplay written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. Benji Pasek and Justin Paul, authors of “The Greatest Showman” and “Star City: La La Land”, have composed new songs for this remake of the animated film that started The Walt Disney Disney Company’s catalog of classics in 1937. The new “Snow White” will arrive in cinemas, in principle, next year.
