The Sanderson sisters are back! It is already here The long-awaited trailer for the sequel to “Return of the Witches”which sees the return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the evil witches Winifred, Sarah and Mary.
The black flame candle is rekindled nearly 30 years after the premiere of the original film, in a sequel that will be released exclusively on Disney + and arrives just in time for next Halloween, the September 30th. The film is directed by Anne Fletcher (“Dumplin”), with a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo (“Solar Opposites”).
The preview begins with three teenage girls who light the mythical candle, as little Max did in the first episode, at the cemetery, thus invoking the diabolical trio, who return making a more dramatic entrance, with Winifred screaming. “Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we’re back!”. In addition to the teaser, Disney + has released a first manifesto where you can see the iconic silhouettes of the leading trio, returning to Salem to once again wreak havoc.
The cast
Accompanying Midler, Parker and Najimy, the cast of “The Witches Return 2” will include, among others, Whitney Peak, known for playing Zoya in the “Gossip Girl” reboot, Froy Gutierrez, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Doug James and up to three drag queens of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’, Ginger Minj, Kornbread Jete and Kahmora Hall, who will embody the drag versions of the Sanderson sisters.
History repeats itself thanks to Becca (Peak), Cassie (Buckingham) and Izzy (Escobedo), high school students who will unleash the wrath of the Sandersons, witches who return to seek revenge in today’s Salem. The trio will have to find a way to do it stop the feet of veteran witches who try to score another essential element of the Halloween family, will they succeed?
