The media trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard concluded a few weeks ago, with Depp as the winner. Among other things, a former agent of the actor claimed that Disney would have fired him from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ because of the Heard article published in The Hollywood Reporter. The actor, who was also replaced by Mads Mikkelsen as Grinderwald in the “Fantastic Beasts” saga, stated during the trial that he would not be returning to Disney for all the gold in the world. However, recent rumors have suggested that his return was almost over.

An anonymous source told PopTopic this “Disney was very interested in fixing her relationship with Johnny Depp” and that “They really hope Johnny will forgive them and return as the iconic character”. This, on the one hand, could have been a joy to the fans, and on the other, it somewhat contradicted Depp’s words during the trial. The actor stated that he would not reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow for even $ 300 million and 1 million alpacas (yes, alpacas). In this way, the source collected by PopTopic would have said that Disney would be willing to offer the actor 301 million, a figure that is difficult to refuse. However, new information surfaced from NBC News (via Comicbook) where a rep for the actor denied all rumors: “They invented it”. Therefore, it seems that at the moment we will not be seeing Jack in the next installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
Similarly, a the former Disney executive also expressed his opinion on the matter and was confident that Depp would say yes to Disney. “I think, after the verdict, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is ready to restart the saga with Johnny as Captain Jack Sparrow back on board”. According to the source, “There is a huge appetite for reviving lucrative Hollywood stars in hugely popular franchises”. However, the words of Depp’s rep quashed hopes that the actor could reprise the role of Jack Sparrow.

The next installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” will star Margot Robbie and will cast Christina Hodson (“Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)”) as a screenwriter. In addition, the film would once again produce Jerry Bruckheimer, who is at the top after the incredible success of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. Rumors have also suggested that Depp may not be starring in the film, but making a cameo as Jack. However, in May the producer was questioned about his possible return to the saga, to which he replied: “Not right now. The future has yet to be decided.”
Everything indicates that we will not see the actor in the next film “Pirates of the Caribbean”, although, as Bruckheimer says, the future has yet to be decided.
