
Actress Brit Robertson (Tomorrowland, Big Sky) has signed on to join the cast of the ABC spin-off series The rookie: the feds. He previously joins the cast star Niecy Nash-Betts (Reno 911!, Claws) in the hour-long detective drama, which was co-created by Alessio Hawleythat he created The rookieand produced another great Nathan Fillion protagonist, CastleAnd Terence Paul Winterproducer also of the two series.
In the series, Niecy Nash-Betts plays Simone Clark, the FBI Academy’s oldest recruit. The spinoff was introduced in a two-part story arc in season 4 of The rookie, where Agent John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and the Los Angeles Division of the FBI enlist the help of Simone Clark when one of his former students is suspected of a terrorist attack.
Robertson joins Nash-Betts; Frankie Faison, who plays Christopher “Cutty” Clark; and Felix Solis, who starred as Special Agent Matthew Garza in the two novice episodes, which served as backdoor pilots for The rookie: the feds. All three are continuing the new series as series regulars.
In the series, “Robertson will play Laura Stensen. She is the “black sheep” of a family of brilliant academics and the youngest person ever admitted to the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit. But after discovering that her boyfriend had cheated on her with her best friend, Laura fell into a crisis: how can a criminal profiler not realize that the people closest to her were liars? Given a lifeline in Garza’s new unit, Laura is ready to get her socially awkward, workaholic and smart with books back to work, hoping to get her mojo back.
The rookie: the feds will debut on ABC this fall on September 27th. Will you tune in?
