Fans are fidgeting in anticipation of the sequel Thor: Love and thunderwith the return of Chris Hemsworth like Thor; Natalie Portman, who takes on the role of Mighty Thor; And Tessa Thompson like Valkyrie. But we’re also really excited to see the Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale in his first MCU role as villain Gorr the God Butcher.
Games Radar reported that the next copy of Total Film takes a deep dive into all things Love and thunderBale was asked what his inspiration for the character was beyond the comics. He explained:
“Mostly listening to Taika [Waititi, director] thoughts about it. There is obviously a kind of light attitude from Nosferatu. Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we couldn’t do, but we had all this Kate Bush stuff we worked on. But I think he just realized that he was never going to be allowed to put it in the final film. I would say the most common thing I was staring at was the Aphex Twin video of “Come To Daddy”. But I don’t even know if it will be in the final film. “
He went on to explain that the character ended up being different from his initial thoughts, saying:
“You kind of say ‘I know what it does.’ It’s right there in the name, isn’t it? But I made the mistake of googling it and oh no! [In the comics] always runs with a thong. And I thought, ‘They don’t have the right man for that!’ And then Taika quickly dispelled any notion of running around. But I always thought about what he could do with this in front of a blue screen: he could throw out whatever he wanted later. “
It’s pretty funny. Waititi is a funny guy, but I think he knows that putting his villain in a thong would distract from how evil he would come across. As for whether the actor had any qualms about accepting another comic book role after Batman, Bale is quick to dismiss the idea.
“Absolutely not, no. It didn’t even cross my mind. I read it and people were like, ‘Oh, look at this! He got into the MCU!’ And I would reply: “What have I done? I didn’t get into shit, thanks a lot. ”I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what it was. ”
Thor: Love and thunder opens in theaters around the world on July 8th. Tickets are now available.
