Disney+ has released a new trailer for Twisted Wonderlanda wild new anime inspired by the classic Disney Villians.
The project is based on the popular Japanese mobile game Disney: Twisted Wonderlandthe anime series drags Disney villains into a whole new genre with a magical boarding school drama.
The show centers on Yuuken, the central protagonist of the mobile game and manga, who is mysteriously invited to attend Night Raven College, a dark magic academy where seven dormitories are each themed after a classic Disney villain.
Think Hogwarts, but with houses themed around Maleficent, Scar, Ursula, Hades, Jafar, the Queen of Hearts and the Evil Queen.
This teaser gives us a quick taste of what’s to come, including a montage of stylized images, character reveals, and the game’s original theme song. The anime is produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica, with Takahiro Natori (Tokyo Mew Mew New) as general manager and Shin Katagai (Ossan’s novice adventurer has become invincible) directed.
The first season of Twisted Wonderland will adapt the “Book of Heartslabyul” story arc, and the show has already been greenlit for three full seasons on Disney+.
Twisted Wonderland arrives on Disney+ this October.
