Matthew Lillard reveals a fun truth behind the long -awaited return of Stim to Scream 7

One of the most anticipated horror films next year is Scream 7And he is reporting some family faces together with new blood. After years of fans’ theories and speculations, the character has officially returned and Lillard has just revealed the hilarious reason why it took so long.

In a recent interview with the US magazine, Lillard explained how Cry Creator Kevin Williamsonwho wrote the original film and now directs the new episode, has finally decided to bring Stud back.

“When I got [Kevin] On the phone that day, I was like ‘you are such a jerk. You said I’m never back. It was like “yes, because you continued to discuss to return and I was trying to distract everyone”.

For years, fans have hypothesized that Stu survived the events of the first film. Ironically, it seems that both the persistence of Lillard and the constant chatter of the fans could actually have delayed his return. However, the actor is enthusiastic to return to the role that a horror icon has made him.

Lillard admitted that fans’ interest was relentless from the beginning:

“I was dizzying. I was going out of my mind. I was a kind of bed pushing the fact that Stu was still alive, he went to prison.

“For example, I’m going to take the superhero as [I’ve] I have been to prison in the past 20 years. And, you know, the radio silence [Productions] The boys left a lot of breadcrumbs in the films that Stu was still out there. “

He also shared that people asked him “literally 1,000 times a day from the first film” on the fact that he could return, and has long argued that his character has never actually been dead. After three decades, fans are finally receiving an answer.

Scream 7 It will be the third item in the franchise produced by Radio Silence Productions, with Guy Busick Writing the screenplay this time and Williamson enters the director’s chair.

Together with the original cast, the return stars include Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy BrownAND Scott Foley. New additions to the cast function Joel MCHALE, Anna Camp, McKenna GraceAND Celeste O’Connor.

The film makes its way into the cinemas on February 26, 2026.
