More than a decade has passed since the last time the fans Kiefer Sutherland Enters the role of Jack Bauer, but the possibility of a 24 The restart is still very real. Not only did Sutherland read a script, but recently explained because it takes so much time to go on the project.
The actor, who recently recited in the short duration Rabbit holeI talked about the future of 24 By promoting his Red Bank whiskey brand on Montreal now with Aaron Rand. When asked about the state of long -term awakening, Sutherland revealed that a script is finally on the table:
“Howard Gordon had an idea that I like. Before, the material had not been written, so I should have said:” I’m not what it is in the middle “. [But] Something was written. I think it’s really good. I think it’s really strong. “
For years, we talk about bringing back Jack Bauer, but nothing is ever materialized because there was a solid script. It has changed now and Sutherland seems honestly enthusiastic about what he read. Whether it’s a new series or a single TV movie, it seems more than ready to return as Bauer.
But the big obstacle is not the story, it is the commercial side. The television panorama has changed radically since then 24 First transmitted and the rights are no longer controlled by the same study. Sutherland explained:
“24 was originally with Fox. Now it is owned by Disney because of what Fox has sold, and therefore it must go through different channels before it is approved or disapproved.
“Like all the others, it’s something I would really like to do. I would like to close that story. It was left open. So, the crossed fingers. There is a possibility. We made some steps forward.”
That “open” goal that he is talking about has arrived 24: Live another dayWhen Jack turned to the Russian agents in exchange for the release of Chloe O’Brian. The series ended with him directed in captivity, leaving the fans with countless questions about what happened later. The follow-up spin-off 24: Legacy I did not collect that plot, leaving the fate of Jack unsolved.
So is Bauer still marching in a Russian prison? Did something out of the screen that changed his situation happened? These are the types of persistent questions that a restart could finally answer.
With the Disney that holds the keys, it is not clear if the project would be landed in Fox again or would have been streamed on Hulu, but the latter option would give the creative team more freedom to further push the intensity of the show.
Sutherland clearly wants to give Bauer the ending that deserves, and now that there is a script, it seems that things are closer than they have been over the years. The watch doesn’t yet tick, but finally there is a reason to believe that Jack Bauer may have returned to action.
