Tron: the director of Ares explains why the Legacy characters will not return

15 years have passed since then Tron: Legacy hit the theaters and now the grid is recovering Tron: Ares. The next Trequel is introducing a brand new story with Jared Leto Like a program of Ai Humanoid that breaks in the real world. But for fans they hope to see family faces like Garrett Hedlund Like Sam Flynn, Olivia Wilde As it quorra, or Cillian Murphy Like Dillinger Jr., the film will not give us Cameo surprisingly.

The only return legacy actor this time is Jeff Bridgeswhich will enter again in the role of Kevin Flynn. According to the director Joachim RønningThere are a couple of reasons why other characters are not reported.

“These things are not just creative choices; sometimes the actors no longer want to be inside. There are several ways of looking at it, but I think the story has fallen into a place where we felt that we had no need for the old characters to be in front and in the center.

“We wanted to take it in a new direction while, at the same time, honor the universe in which we are.”

That new direction revolves around Leto’s Ares, a superintendent of that crosses our world for the first time. Next to him, the public will meet fresh faces interpreted by Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Gillian AndersonAND Jodie Turner-Smith.

Producer Justin Springer He also thought why the team resisted the film with the nostalgic cameo.

“We are telling a story that is 14 years later, and the most important thing is that we tell this new story in a way that works. To launch the cameo, in which it is a parade of people we love from this franchise, I feel only as its fans who do not need history. But we are definitely focused on how to surprise the public.

“If we don’t touch something in this film, I always think about where more we can play. I produced the animated series [Tron: Uprising] And I worked on the themed park rides.

“There are all the different ways to keep mythology alive, whether it is a film or a series or other, if we are so lucky.”

Then while while Tron: Ares It may not report all the favorite characters from the fans, it seems that the creative team is more interested in pushing mythology forward than looking back.
