“I love the unpredictability that Noah brings him. My hope is that when people see episode 5 and see some of the motivations, they are more on the fence. It’s not like, ‘ok, this boy is led by the mission, crazy and bad. He is more similar, I don’t know how I feel for him now.'”

Ceesay revealed that the personal story Tessa in the Merrow background struck close to the house, especially when the show used his daughter to play Morrow’s Child in flashbacks.

“When I discovered that she had a daughter and that she had died in the way she had, she hit an agreement much more deeply in me. The actress she plays my daughter is my real daughter.

Morrow’s contradictions were fundamental for performance. While it may appear efficient and detached, there is a buried vulnerability that model the way in which it interacts with the world.

“That element was what I needed to cling to me, this idea that is still human and moral. And sees that side of himself in two different ways. He sees it useful – he will pull it up and can connect with people needs it.

To prepare to interpret someone who is partly human, partly a car, Ceesay has studied Cyborg in the real world.

“I did some research on the Cyborgs and found this boy named Neil, who basically had a Cyborg attachment to his head. He is an artist, and he is blind, so he had something added to the base of his skull on the back who comes out in the foreground. What he does is a sort of healthy response. He feels color.

“Looking at his interview, he is talking about being more than human. He feels as if it were the next level. He has gone from someone shy to someone who has his place in the world.”

Episode 5 has also leaned heavily on the classic Alien vibrations, rooting the horror in the normal routines of a crew that does their job. For Ceesay and the cast, it seemed to me to enter directly into the inheritance of the franchise.

“One hundred percent. We were all aware of it. We had our moment to feel stunned when you walk for the first time – Oh my God, I am on the nostromo. It is real. Everyone was a fan. Having that first moment, putting themselves in that area of ​​comfort – like a group, we call us the EP Fiversers, we knew that we had to cross many borders very quickly and we felt at ease in every way.

The actor described episode 5 as one of the most intense and rewarding sprouts of the series, taking more than five weeks to be completed.

“Ep. 5 was special. Because you are essentially shooting an alien film in the middle of this alien series.”
