In preview at the beginning of this year at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025, the film did not detonate everyone, but made an impression with its disturbing atmosphere and a descent in The Strange.
Set in the rural calendar campaign, Rabbit trap Follows the married musicians Daphne and Darcy Davenport, who retire from London to finish a new album. Instead of finding peace, they stumble on an inexplicable sound that slowly attracts them into a hallucinatory nightmare.
Things start spiral after Darcy accidentally recorded a mysterious audio signal unlike anything never listened to. According to the official synopsis:
“In search of new inspirations and a new beginning, the married musicians Daphne (Rosy McEwan) and Darcy (Dev Patel) move to the Welsh countryside to finish a new album. While he collects audio champions, Darcy inadvertently creates a recording on the field of mysterious sound never listened to by the human ears.
“The discovery renews Daphne’s creative energy, but while the echoes of his music bleed in the surrounding landscape, the woods forces of ancient and malicious woods are disturbed. One day, a stranger arrives at their door. The couple initially embraces the strange child, who helps them navigate and understand their new environment, but Darcy becomes suspicious of his obsession.
Directed by Bryn Caineyin his debut in his film and produced by Elia Wood, Rabbit trap It promises to be a horror for the Arthouse who supports vibrations and visual narration on traditional fears.
Our review summed up well: “This film is decidedly more atmospheric, with very few real leap fears, but it does an excellent job in feeling disturbing but so so this so.
Magnolia Pictures is destined to release Rabbit trap In US theaters on 12 September 2025.
