The cast of Netflix One piece it is strong behind Charithra Chandran After dealing with a wave of racist comments after the first teaser release for season 2.
Chandran will make his debut as live nefertari, also known as Miss Wednesday, in the next season, but the excitement for his casting has been obscured by hateful online comments.

He continued to underline that Chandran was chosen by the creator of the series Eiichiro Oda himself.
“Charithra has been selected by Hand by Oda and has much more knowledge and understanding of her characters of anyone else, in particular the hateful and non -imaginative crepes that actually have the audacity to get on the internet to launch a speech of hatred towards an actor without even seeing their absolutely extraordinary performance on the show.”
He continued to call the “ridiculous” backlash and also stressed that the inheritance of lives has always been rooted in the influences of the Middle East and Southern Asia.
“Let’s talk about facts: Nefertari is Egyptian. Where is Egypt? The Middle East. The Kingdom of Alabasta heavily draws from the culture of the Middle East and Southern Asia. And you complain because the actor chosen to play the role … isn’t it white?!”
He explained that the casting Chandran is not changing the character, but “actually honors the expected vision of Oda”.
While some fans have criticized racist reactions, others have used the time to express disappointment for the lack of a Middle Eastern and North African actor in the role.
Rudd faced this on Twitter: “The sharing of these feelings is not destined to deny the valid speech of the Mena (and/or lack) representation in Hollywood. It is important to keep studies and networks responsible and guarantee a representation for everyone”.
He followed another post that clarified his position. “The intention is to mark that hatred directed towards a specific person to simply do a job (and the work well done) is unacceptable.”
One piece Season 2 should go down to the beginning of 2026, bringing fans back to the large line with new allies, enemies and adventures. I loved the first season of this series and I am very enthusiastic for season 2! People just need to relax.
Every casting decision for this show was fantastic, so I’m excited to see how Chandran gives life to his character!
