Netflix has just dropped the teaser for Trainwreck: Storm Area 51the last episode in theirs Trainwreck Docuserie, and it is exactly the type of glorious internet chaos that you would expect.
Do you remember that 2019 Facebook post on Storming Area 51 why “can’t stop us all”? That viral joke turned into a meeting of the desert of real life of alien truth, lords of the memes, YouTubers and perhaps some old sexy alien cosplayers.
The DOC dives headlong into absurdity, mixing the digital absurdity of the Naruto racing and we find “Aliens” optimism with the very real warnings from the US military. While Netflix frames him, it is here that “the internet broke out in the real world” and yes … things have become strange.
The synopsis reads: “This is the story of the greatest sh*tipst ever made”, proclaims the doctor. “When the twenty year old Matty Roberts creates a Facebook event that invites people to assault the area of the Air Force structure classified 51 in the Nevada desert, the post becomes quickly viral, with hundreds and then thousands saying that they will join the event that declared that they cannot stop all of us”.
“This pushes the American aeronautics, the FBI officials and the FAA to highly recommend against anyone who illegally tries to access the base, and the military warns to be ready to protect America and its resources with fatal force. The meme continues to become viral and spread to other social media apps and soon millions have enrolled to participate …”
Directed by Jack Macinnes (Black Hawk survived), and produced by Raw & Bbh, this disaster document landed on Netflix on July 29.
