Marvel Studios has finally given fans what they asked, a true Fantastic Four Movies. After years of anticipation and false departures, The Fantastic Four: First Steps It affects cinemas this weekend and, for the most part, it is a fun and visually surprising addition to the MCU. Even if it is not an impeccable masterpiece, it does enough to satisfy Marvel’s hardcore fans and prepare the ground for even bigger things to come.
What stands out immediately is the style of the film. Director Matt Shakman He relies strongly to a vibrant retro aesthetic inspired by the 1960s and I loved him! The visual elements open incredibly of color and the design of production seems like a love letter to the classic science fiction with a modern MCU enamel. It gives the film a funny flavor that separates it from the usual Marvel rate.
The action, although limited to two main sets, offers absolutely. The first large sequence takes place at the beginning when the fantastic four rockets in space to negotiate with Galactus. It ends with a spatial pursuit with Silver Surfer, and is exciting, frenetic and full of stunning visual elements.
The second set of epic actions is the ending. Galactus arrives on Earth to take something very personal from the team, and what follows is a huge and citizen clash that puts the fantastic four at the final test. These sequences are fantastic and they are worth seeing the film on the big screen!
As for the story, it is … well. It’s simple and useful, but it doesn’t drive you crazy. The biggest problem is the rhythm. The opening of the film drags itself with a configuration of Long Origin that the fans who are familiar with the Fantastic Four could find useless. For those of us who already know these characters, the first 15-20 minutes feel like a slow scan before things really enter. Once the plot finds its groove, however, it is a wild and fun tour.
As for performance, the cast does a solid job throughout the line. Vanessa Kirby It shines like his Storm, easily the emotional core of the film. He feels like the real protagonist here and works. Pedro Pascal He brings the charm to Reed Richards, but surprisingly, Mister Fantastic ends up being the least interesting member of the team. It is underutilized and its powers barely obtain any showcase.
On the other hand, Joseph QuinnJohnny Storm e Ebon Moss-BachrachBen Grimm brings personality and heart to the dynamics of the group and are a real fun to watch together.
The bad guys are where this film really flexes. Galactus seems incredible … huge, threatening and gloriously accurate! Ralph Inesion It brings a chilling presence to the role, making the devourers feel the worlds as an unstoppable force of nature.
Then there is Silver Surfer, played by Julia GarnerWhich gets a good amount of Screen and adds a compelling dynamic to history, and there is an interesting dynamic that has with Johnny Storm. Its inclusion opens the doors for future stories and, honestly, an solo Surfer Silver The film now looks like a must.
In the end, The Fantastic Four: First Steps It does not reinvent the MCU wheel, but turns it in a fun and visually rich direction. Despite some sobs of stimulation and a underdeveloped Reed Richards, the film is successful as an exciting cosmic adventure and prepares the stage for the monumental events of Avengers: Doomsday AND Secret wars. Fan of Marvel, this is worth your ticket.
