James Gunn makes fun of Milly Alcock’s angular Supergirl calling him “A rock & roll film”

James Gunn It is tilting madly when it comes to reinvent supergirl for the DCU. With Milly Alcock Debut like Kara Zor-El in Supergirl: Woman of TomorrowFans should expect a version of the character who is far from the bright and optimistic hero that we saw before.

If you took the end of SupermanYou have seen Alcock’s Kara make a surprise appearance, stumble in the fortitude of solitude to recover Krypt from his cousin. That scene mentioned what Gunn has now confirmed … This Supergirl is a little rough around the edges.

Gunn told Rolling Stone:

“When I took this job, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was, as, the number one for me of the things I knew I wanted to do. Ana Nogueira just killed the script and I saw what I saw in how the comic could be adapted to the film, where [Supergirl is] Even more rough in the film than it is in the comic. “

Unlike his cousin Clark Kent, who grew up in the warmth of Smallville, Kara grew up in chaos. Gunn was vocal on wanting to highlight that contrast. As previously said:

“In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the moment he was a child, against Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and saw everyone around her die and be killed terriblely to see the first years of her life, and then came to the earth when she was a young girl. She is much more hardcore, we are not exactly used for the first years to see for the first years of the Her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl.

This kara does not concern the truth, justice and the American way, at least not in the traditional sense. It is a survivor and that edge will be central in the tone of the film.

“Remember, this is a different film from Supergirl. Supergirl is a much more rock & roll film. It is a little more rough, in certain ways. It is a harder character. It is not Superman at all. And therefore it is not the same.

“This film is really for everyone. And so it is Supergirl, but somehow it is a little more sharp than this film. Mind you, I saw all the newspapers, but I have not seen the cut. I see it next week, I think. So I’m very enthusiastic about this.”

Fans who read Tom King’s Woman of tomorrow Know that Krypto does not have exactly an easy tour. When asked if that arch will remain the same, Gunn has maintained vague things. However, considering how much the iconic dc puppy loves, we are bet that the superdog will come out alive, even if the journey is brutal.

The film will send Kara in a wild adventure of the space while starting to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto. Along the way, he crosses the paths with Eve Ridley like Ruthye Mary Knolle and joins her in a bloody search for revenge.

Matthias Schoenaerts The evil Krem of the Yellow hills will play, while Jason Momoa It makes its long -awaited debut as Lobo. To complete the cast are David Krumholtz AND Emily Beecham Like the parents of Kara, Zor-El and Alura.

This film promises to offer something completely different from the previous versions of the Supergirl screen, in particular the long -standing CW series conversed by Melissa Benoist. Gunn’s Kara is “less serious and more angular”, an anti -hero “Rock & Roll” for a new era of narration in Washington.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow It opens in cinemas on June 26, 2026. Light, because this will be a hell of a ride through the cosmos.
