Instead of relying entirely on CGI, his team has built elaborate sets and practical elements to grind the first Marvel family in a world that feels lived. This included the creation of a physical suit for Galactus, which appears briefly in the movie, even if Marvel is not yet giving us a complete look at the face of the villain.
Costume designer Alexandra Byrne He faced one of the most ambitious challenges of his career with Galactus design. The armor was to be carried out with extreme precision so that it maintains its authenticity when it digitally reduced for the imposing cosmic entity. “Every detail had to be meticulously made so that when it was expanded, it still seemed completely real,” explained Byrne.
Ryan Meinerding, responsible for the Visual Development of Marvel, added: “Galactus and his armor should resemble an spaceship itself. This idea has helped to model the design: Galactus could be both a living being and a giant spatial”. The result is one of the greatest and most intricate costumes ever built for a Marvel film.
The filming of Galactus were like working with a huge miniature. The production team used a large lighting to capture every detail, but which created intense heat inside the suit.
