“Hey, everyone! I just wanted you to listen to it: I’m stopping the comedy,” said Robinson in a video post. “But not for nothing. It was an extraordinary race, and you were fantastic and wonderful, but I am following something bigger. So, thank you very much, I love you and stay tuned.”
In the caption, he added: “Update of life: I am officially stopping the comedy to focus on my real call. Stay tuned. I am working on something huge.”
That “something huge” could be less a dramatic life pin and more than a carefully orchestrated marketing acrobatics. In addition to the Instagram posts, the billboards have sprung up through Los Angeles reading “Craig Robinson is stopping the comedy”, not exactly the type of basic farewell that you would expect from someone who moves away from an entire career.
Then there is the follow-up post, in which he asked fans advice on small businesses: “It turns out that making a dream and building a business with your friends are two very different things,” wrote Robinson. “I still can’t get into detail, but for really any help it would be enormous.”
Whatever is happening, it seems that there is a final joke and I’m curious to see what everything is going.
