Marvel Studios is preparing for the release Ironheart On Disney+ at the end of this month, and according to the executive manufacturer Sev OhanianThis will not be your history of standard origin.
Riri Williams made his debut in Black Panther: Wakanda forever, But this solo series promises something deeper, more risky and more psychologically stratified. Ohanian tells Sfx magazine:
“Riri is brilliant but defective and finds himself walking a path that I am not sure that he has seen enough in the MCU. Somehow breaks badly on the show and we go to some uncomfortable places for the audience that I think it will be really fun to explore, almost in the vein of Walter White from Breaking Bad or Tony Soprano.”
This reports a very different tonal change for the young genius of Marvel, which could blur the moral lines and challenge the usual expectations of how a hero appears in this universe. It is an interesting direction to take things and I hope they can actually remove it.
Ironheart collects after the events of Black panther: Wakanda foreverWith Riri returning to his hometown in Chicago. But it is not a warm return home. He finds himself crossing paths with Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos), a villain in the street level that delights in magic, something that contrasts him with the vision of the world led by Riri.
The friction between their two approaches, Science vs. Stregonery seems to be at the center of history. According to reports, Riri’s journey will be released in a dangerous territory, forcing her to confront each other not only to the bad guys, but to parts of herself that she does not like them.
Marvel never really draws comparisons with characters like Tony Soprano or Walter White, who were imperfect icons that kept the audience hooked precisely because they were so morally complicated.
It remains to be seen if Ironheart completely relies on that anti -hero’s lane or simply touches against it. But if Ohanian’s comments are something to do, Marvel could draw on something darker and more introspective this time.
