James Gunn explains why Superman is a “terrifying creature” in his film and the purpose of his red trunks

In James GunnIt is coming Superman Film, Truth, Justice and American Way are wrapped in Red Crape, Trunks and an interesting new direction with history since everyone knows that Superman is not from the earth.

The secret identity tension is over which is long called Clark Kent. In the DC universe of Gunn, the audience already knows that Superman is an alien and understandably are a little out of his mind.

Gunn puts him in no uncertain terms:

“He digs the rays from the eyes, can blow up things with breath, it is a kind of this terrifying creature.”

And this is where the red trunks enter.

Yes, the very debated briefs are back, but not only for the good of nostalgia. David CorenswetWhich is entering the heroic role this time, he explained to Fandango that the costume, the red and silly underwear and everything else, is part of a wider strategy to put humanity at ease.

Corenswet shared some intuitions on this, saying:

“My thing was that perhaps they should seem a little foolish. Maybe the reason why we wear them is a little foolish. Basically to undermine how really powerful it is.”

Gunn, who according to what was reported went back and forth on the opportunity to maintain the classic aspect of comics (even advice Zack Snyder For the perspective), in the end he was convinced by Corenswet’s socket. Gunn added:

“David who said it was like … but he really likes children, humans and people. He wants children to be afraid of him. And therefore it was the thing that made me decide to keep the trunks.”

This is a design choice that suggests that this Superman could be a little more vulnerable, more thoughtful and more self -aware of the impact that his presence has on earth. The red trunks become a disarming gesture, a sort of alien humility. Sure, why not!?

The last trailer that has been released Superman showing Kryptonian SuperPotered Kryptonian’s heat, who gives up in orbit and randomly raises the skyscrapers. There is no doubt about the level of power with which we are dealing with, but Gunn’s version wants us to see the man before the myth … even if it is a “terrifying creature”.
