Monster High Movie finds its frighteningly perfect director in Gerard Johnstone of M3gan

Mattel and Universal have just delivered the keys Monster High To a horror director who knows how to have a little fun with fear.

M3gan director Gerard Johnstone Will Helm the Live-Action Monster High Movie, the latest addition to Mattel’s ever-growing cinematographic part. For fans of Monster Lore, Campy Satira and emotionally Weird Teen Angst, this could be the perfect combination.

The screenplay is written by Oscar-WinneR Akiva Goldsman (A nice mind, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), which also produces together with Brenner. For Goldsman, the project arrives closest to the house:

“Monster High is deliciously personal for me: my daughters have grown by loving dolls and what they represent. Gerard’s work is acute, bold and full of heart. It is exactly the director who needs this film.”

There is still no word on the casting or on the plot, but this creative team suggests a tone that could incline somewhere between horror tribute and sincere adventure for teenagers. Think in a ghostly, elegant way and perhaps just a little evil.
