Carey Mulligan joins the film by Narnia by Greta Gerwig the Magician’s Nephew

Carey Molligan He is directed to Narnia. According to Variety, the actress appointed to the Oscar is in negotiations to join Greta GerwigIt is coming Chronicles of Narnia Adaptation to Netflix. If the agreement passes, it will join an already stacked cast that includes Daniel Craig, Meryl StreepAND Emma Mackey.

Gerwig is taking on the ambitious task of restarting The chronicles of Narnia For a new generation, write and direct the first film in what could be a wider franchise.

The first franchising movie is said to be The grandson of the magicianThe sixth book published in the classic fantasy series of CS Lewis, but the first in the chronological temporal sequence of history.

It could be a lesser known title but, I like the decision, it could be the perfect configuration to explore Narnia’s deeper mythology before reintroducing the children of Pevensie and that iconic wardrobe.

Set long before the events of The lion, the witch and the wardrobe, The grandson of the magician It follows two curious children, Digory and Polly, who stumble in alternative worlds using magical rings made by the eccentric uncle of Digory (Craig). Their journey takes them to the “wood between the worlds”, where they witness the birth of Narnia, sung to the great lion Aslan (Streep).

Mackey will play the Bianca and Mulligan witch, if confirmed, will take on the role of Digory’s sick mother, an emotional anchor in history that gives Digory her motivation and moral conflict while seeking a cure for her illness in the magical world.

While the casting is still in progress, Gerwig’s vision is clearly attracting high -level talents. Leaving the global phenomenon of BarbieHer pivot for a temptular and deeply spiritual fantasy saga like Narnia is an interesting choice for her and I can’t wait to see what she does.

Netflix has not yet announced a release date, but with this cast and creative team, the next trip a Narnia It may be worth waiting.
