Andor He cemented as the jewel of Disney’s crown+ Star Wars training. With strong writing, narrative and political intrigues, fans cannot stop talking about the series and how it ended.
Now we are learning that it has been discussed and considered a cameo of Princess Leia for the second season! In a recent interview with Screenrant, Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy He revealed that at the beginning of the development of season 2, there were discussions on how to bring Leia Organa to the fold.
It would not have been included as an important character, but more similar to a subtle inclusion, but has never overcome the drawing table. Gilroy said:
“There were some conversations at the beginning, there was a lot to do. This is in the sketch phase. This is at the beginning really soaked, trying to understand what to do because trying to understand, I was trying to make sure that I have an idea.
“I was trying to get the the most out of that week of investment and those parties, and now we have Alden’s party … and we are doing something. And we were trying to discover the temporal sequence in which he would be in the Senate.”
Leia appeared briefly in Rogue Onethe film Andor leads directly into. There, it was interpreted by the actress Ingvild deila with Carrie FisherThe similarity is digitally superimposed using VFX. He only had a word of dialogue … “hope”.
Therefore, an apparition of Leia in Andor He could have made sense of narrative. But Gilroy clarified that logic is not always the same as a good narrative. He said:
“There were some nutrients for a scene between her and Mothma that if she was going to us at 16 and Mothma had gone to the Senate when she was 16, there were some interesting basic things for a scene, but she never exceeded this, and she never went to the casting stage, or she never became more real than that.
“I remember talking to Kathy [Kennedy] In this regard and talk to Pablo [Hidalgo] In this regard, but has never had a traction, and then it became a distraction. “
While it would have been interesting to see Leia present yourself, I can see how a distraction would have been. Season 2 is currently located with an almost perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, with season 1 behind 96%. This makes it the best revised Star Wars Live-action series to date.
Gilroy and his team clearly had a vision, and while the temptation to tie in several Legacy characters must have been strong, AndorThe strength has always been in its moderation. He did not need family faces to tell a powerful story, he sculpted his path, even if this meant refusing the opportunity to include Princess Leia.
