Director Simon WestThe Master of Action behind Air, Lara Croft: Tomb RaiderAND The Expendables 2 He is entering the world of espionage of the Second World War with his next project, Fortress.
Described as a historical adventure rooted in real events, the film will highlight the bold operations of British intelligence that used deceptions, theatricals and spies to overcome the Nazis and move the trajectory of the war.
The script, written by the manufacturer Simon Afram (Lear Rex), will start shooting this summer in London. The casting is currently underway.
The film follows “The splendor of the British Army officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll ‘Tar’ Robertson, who have deployed an elaborated network of deception campaigns including fictitious armies, false military equipment and a network of double agents to dispel Nazi intelligence.
“Among these was the Yugoslav Playboy Dusko Popov, a double agent in real life. He helped to throw the project for James Bond, transforming the espionage of real life into legend, which in the end inspired Ian Fleming’s novels.”
Fortress aims to enlarge and tell a wider area of intelligent against war, with a historical advice of Joshua Levineknown for his work on Dunkirk AND Blitz. The emphasis will be on how imagination, not only the military, has contributed to transforming the tide of the war.
West shared in an affirmation: “The strength of mind is a tribute to the power of ingenuity, imagination and human spirit against every forecast. At a time when the bullets could not win the battle, it was the creativity that transformed the tide. I am really excited to give life to this chapter of the story not told.”
West has always had a talent for the high octane show, but with FortressHe is channeling that energy into something a little different and I’m curious to see how this story gives life.
