Towards the beginning of March, EA and Hazelight Studios have published a new cooperative adventure called Fiction divided. The game is now available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S and was recently announced for Nintendo Switch 2 at the launch on June 5th. The EA team was kind enough to provide me with a digital code to play on Xbox, but all the thoughts below are mine.
In fiction fiction, you and a friend you will need to master a wide range of skills in constant evolution while taking on the roles of my and Zoe authors, working together to escape their science fiction worlds and fantasy.
Escape in Sun who is going to Supernova, challenges a monkey to a dance battle, tries some fantastic hoverboard tricks, fight an evil kitten and make a little from the bikes from gravity to a sand. With completely different worlds from each other, the surprising challenges await you at each turn.
In case you haven’t taken hold yet, Fiction divided It is a compulsory cooperative game like It takes two. I played with my wife, but if you have no one who can sit next to you and play, you can use Friends Pass that allows you and a friend to play together even if only one of you has the game. What makes it even better is that there are cross game options, so you don’t have to use the same platform.
First things. I was unable to complete the main story of Fiction divided. Based on HowlongtoBeat, I imagine being around halfway. I will also do my best to keep this review spoiler lite.
Overall, I enjoy a lot Fiction divided. I really like these buddy adventures (I love myself It takes two) And this is no different. Mine is an author of science fiction and Zoe is an author of fantasy and while he plays the two learn others and themselves.
Of course, general history seems a bit generic as it is an evil society that tries to replace human creativity and art with technology. However, what makes history interesting are the moments of the character and growth. I will not enter these, but trust me when I say that I really liked meeting mine and Zoe and seeing other themes like pain, despair, open mentality and more.
Here is where he pulled my biggest complaint out Fiction divided. So, while you will sound the main stories and secondary stories. I highly recommend playing secondary stories. The main stories (especially science fiction) often seem too long.
For example, in the most recent, we reached the point where we had to defeat a giant robot that seemed to be a culmination of history, but then we had about 45 minutes of gameplay to conclude the story and actually get to what it represented and because it was important.
They are not against long sections in general, but often they feel too long and not well portrayed by a narrative perspective. Although perhaps this is the point since these characters are unpublished authors and maybe that’s why?
It is a bit difficult to talk about the gameplay as the details change according to the story in which you are. But overall he feels good and I have not noticed any performance problem in the Xbox X series. As is common, each of the characters has unique skills in each of the worlds and you will have to work together to progress.
Sometimes, the puzzles presented require a real thought and adaptation, but I have not found anything in the design of the game too difficult or ridiculous. In fact, it crosses Fiction divided It can feel really fun with the sections where you can use a socket hook or a similar device to grab things and push you forward or swing as a spider-man.
I think one of the funniest aspects of these Buddy’s adventures is to see them wear their inspirations on the sleeves and Fiction divided It is no different. Both in terms of gameplay and general aesthetic, you can see so many influences and the team is not afraid to show them. I commented to see influences like Tron, Mega manAND Portal To name a few.
Now I want to revisit secondary stories. I have already mentioned briefly and I recommended you to play them, but I want to share how a couple are. One of them makes you sound like pigs in a small adventure.
A pig extends vertically and the other goes through magical scores horizontally. Another allows you to access a magic wand that can transform each other or even NPC into various objects including a cheese wheel. I don’t really want to go too much in them, so I’ll leave it to that, but I wanted to give you a taste for two of my favorite secondary stories.
At the end of the day, I’m really having fun Fiction divided And I can’t wait to finish playing it. Hazelight has another blow on their hands and I highly recommend it. Of course, the main story sometimes seems dragged sometimes, but this is really my only complaint.
