Twice the winner of the Oscar Award winner Adrien Brody (The pianist, The brutalist) has just come out of his second victory and is stopping the offers to choose his next projects. Brody starred mostly in the dramas in her career and would have continued her series also in the superhero genre if things had gone for her path.
He was ready for Joker’s “dream role” in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Megahit Batman Film, The dark knightwhich notoriously went to Heath Ledger.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Podcast Happy Sad confused (via /Film), Brody was asked if the genre was still interesting for him. Replied:
“If I was presented to me the opportunity to play an interesting character with a director who raised me and gave me room to do something very different in that world, it seems incredible.
“You have this wonderful car, if we are talking about a Marvel film: you have Disney and Marvel and all these giants who know all the techniques and tools and stop behind these films, and have done something that I think is enormous.”
Brody therefore mentioned the only condition in which he would actually sign a project:
“People love them. Who wouldn’t want to be part of something who is loved? But would it take a tone that I connected to. It wouldn’t be just for … you know.”
He does not feel the need to verify it from a wish list or something. He wanted to play Joker in particular, so he should have found another character who interested him at least as much.
If Brody joins the MCU or even the DCU, who could you see it?
