“I don’t know if someone has ever done it before.”
Here’s how Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy describes the second and last season of the acclaimed Star Wars Series, the one that is throwing the book of the rules on the airline.
Originally imagined as a five -seasons tentacular arch, the story of Cassian Andor is now running to the finish line with a wild structural change that is both practical and experimental.
Season 2 of Andor It is divided into four distinct arches, each one trio of episodes that covers three intense days of action, then jumps a whole year. It is a format that Gilroy describes as a “fascinating experiment” and explains why things change.
“We stayed in the middle of season 1, coming through Covidid, and the monumental dimensions of the show, the effort and everything else was only from.”
“We realized that I didn’t have enough calories to do it, and Diego’s face could not take the times, because it takes only too long to do it. We were saved by Disney saying:” Okay, if you guys you can understand a way to do it, we are inside. “”
This opened the door to a leaner and leaner and more lean and more jumping fiction, which will be very far from the slow burning intrigue of season 1. The rapid approach also pushes history to the door of Rogue One.
Gilroy says: “It is a fascinating experiment and I don’t know if someone has ever done it before. We will jump a year between each block and we will use that negative space in a really interesting way, returning for three days at a time, so it is like a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
“The challenge is, how come back [to start each chapter]? We wanted to have it as elegant and seamlessly possible and we just hit the ground. There has been a lot of experimentation to make sure it works. “
It is no wonder that Diego Luna compares the experience of the filming of “Four Movies”. Season 2 could close the curtain AndorBut he is doing it with a very interesting narrative structure.
The twelve episodes of the second season will bring the story of Cassian Andor and the emerging Alliance rebel during the four climatic years that lead to the discovery of black death and the events of Rogue One.
“The first season followed Cassian’s reluctant journey from none cynical to the revolutionary volunteer. Andor The second season will see him transform from soldier to leader to hero on the road to his epic fate. Since the first scene, Cassian’s story has activated a whole always removed from allies and enemies.
“The second season will see these relationships intensify while the horizon of the galactic war approaches. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes are raised, the betrayals, the sacrifices and the conflicting agendas will become profound. Who will live to see their dreams made?
Together with Luna, the return cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Ricco, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu AND Forest Whitaker. Ben Mendelsohn he also returned as an imperial officer Orson Krennic e Alan Tudyk like K-2SO.
Andor Season 2 will be previewed on Disney+ April 22, 2025.
