“Welcome to the wax.” The retro trailer of this week is for the 1988 Waxworks horror movie, which is one of those movies that I liked to watch when I was growing!
The film was directed by Anthony Hickox And he mixed classic horror elements with dark comedy. The story follows a group of teenagers led by Mark (Zach Galligan) and Sarah (Deborah Foreman), who are invited to a mysterious wax museum from his enigmatic owner, Mr. Lincoln (David Warner).
As the exhibitions explore, they discover that each wax display represents a different classic horror scenario: Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy and more. However, when visitors approach too much, they are magically transported to the mortal world of the exhibition, becoming trapped in terrifying realities in which they must fight for survival.
I always thought it was a really interesting and fun concept. While Mark and Sarah reveal the left truth behind the Museum of Cera, they learn that Mr. Lincoln is using these shows to resurrect real supernatural monsters, with the final goal of unleashing them on the world. With the help of an eccentric professor, surviving teenagers fight the wax figures and their monstrous inhabitants in a climatic clash.
It is a horror movie that is worth taking a look if you have never seen it.
