97th Oscar nomination: an awards race with EMILIA PEREZ leading the pack

The 97th Oscar nominations are here, and unlike last year’s predictable dominance, they are here OppenheimerThis year’s race is a free-for-all cinematic event.

Leading the charge is Emilia Perezthe bold, genre-defying musical about the gender transition of a Mexican cartel leader, which secured a historic 13 nominations, the most ever for a non-English-language film.

Joining it in the race for best film are Anora, The brutalist, Evil, Duna: second part, I’m still here, Nickel boys, The substance, A complete strangerAND Conclave.

Evil AND The brutalist they follow closely with 10 nominations each. Evil has seen nods for its protagonists Cinzia Erivo AND Arianna GrandeWhile Brady Corbet’S The brutalist got nominations for Adrian Brody, Guy Pearceand directed by Corbet.

Winner of the Palme d’Or Anora received six nominations, while The substance earned five, inclusive Demi MooreThe first Oscar nod and a directing nomination for Coralie Fargeat.

In particular, Edward Berger (Conclave) AND Jon Chu (Evil) were snubbed in the Best Director category, despite their films being considered top contenders.

Among the surprises, Jeremy Forte AND Sebastiano Stan nods acting for The Apprenticea film that has been overshadowed by controversy stemming from former President Donald Trump’s legal threats against its release.

I’m not as interested in the Oscars as I used to be. There are a good number of films nominated that I haven’t seen yet.

You can see the full list of nominations below. Check it out and let us know which films you’d like to see win.
