Ansel Elgort and Catherine Hardwicke together for the film adaptation of IF YOU CAN SEE ME NOW

Actor Ansel Elgort (The fault in our stars, History of the West Side) has signed on to act If you could see me nowan adaptation of the 2005 novel by Cecilia Ahern.

The film will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke (The prisoner’s daughter, Lords of Dogtown) from a screenplay adapted from Caterina Cort.

Coming from Constantine Film and Canyon Creek, the film follows Elizabeth, whose mother disappeared when she was a child. That same night, Ivan arrived, her invisible friend, a boy her age that only she can see, sent to support her in a difficult moment.

Years later, Ivan and Elizabeth are miraculously reunited, though neither remembers the bond they once had. Ivan immediately begins to fall for Elizabeth, unsure why she can see him, but something tells Ivan that he must help her one more time…

The book is just the latest to be screened for Ahern, the Irish novelist behind titles such as PS, I love you AND Where the rainbows endwhich were respectively adapted as films PS: I love you AND Love, Rosie. Ahern also wrote the short story collection Roarwhich was turned into a star-studded series for Apple TV+.

Elgort is coming off two seasons of Max’s crime drama Tokyo Vicebased on the memoirs of journalist Jake Adelstein, of which he was also executive producer. We will also soon see him in the survival thriller Faster than horsesproduced by British adventurer Bear Grylls.
