Idris Elba hopes that one day, he and Keanu Reeves will return to Night City for a Cyberpunk 2077 film adaptation.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Elba asked if he would be open to reuniting with Reeves for a film adaptation of the sci-fi game and Elba responded:
“Oh man, that’s a great question. I think if a movie could have a live-action version, it could be [ Cyberpunk 2077 ]and I think his character and my ensemble would be like, “Whoa.” So, let’s speak it into existence.”
It would be really cool if Elba and Reeves ended up starring together in a Cyberpunk 2077as both actors are part of the franchise and there is no doubt that fans would love to see them play live-action versions of the character they play in the games.
Cyberpunk 2077 follows V, a mercenary from the vibrant but dangerous Night City, who gets caught up in a high-stakes heist to steal a revolutionary biochip from the Arasaka megacorporation.
The mission goes off the rails and the biochip is implanted in V’s head to save their lives, but it comes with a problem: it contains the engram (a digital consciousness) of Johnny Silverhand, a rebel rocker and anti-corporate terrorist who died decades ago .
As Johnny’s personality begins to overwrite V’s mind, the two must navigate a tenuous alliance to discover a way to separate their destinies. Along the way, V interacts with a colorful cast of allies and enemies, explores the seedy underbelly and corporate towers of Night City, and faces moral dilemmas that determine the outcome of their story.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Freedom returns to the role of V, a mercenary involved in a high-stakes political conspiracy. V is enlisted by enigmatic FIA agent Solomon Reed (voiced by Idris Elba) to rescue the president of the New United States after his orbital shuttle crashes in Dogtown.
As V ventures into the dangerous world of covert operations, double-crossing and cyber intrigue, the story delves into themes of loyalty, sacrifice and betrayal, giving players the chance to shape the narrative through impactful choices.
With brave new characters, advanced weapons, and a deeper dive into Night City’s dystopian lore, Phantom freedom offers a gripping cyberpunk thriller.
