We have two new photos to share with you from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s M3GAN 2.0 and feature the return of the killer AI doll and Violet McGraw as Cady working on some robotic electronic devices.
There are no details yet on the story of the sequel, but the director Gerard Johnstone “I delved into Gemma as a reluctant parent, the monstrous element of Frankenstein, and the parallels with AI in the real world”
Johnstone explained to EW, “It was really important that the sequel was a response to what people really loved about the first movie, but also to this evolving conversation and fear that we’re having about how AI is changing us and our children and changing society. In a certain sense, M3GAN is the personification of all these fears.”
Johnstone went on to confirm that the bot is still very obsessed with Cady and says that M3GAN will also have a new look. “She’s a living doll and part of the fun of having a doll is being able to play dress up.
“We had a couple of looks in the first movie, but I wanted 10 different looks for M3GAN. For the sequel, I felt this was an opportunity to do that.”
Producer James Wan they previously teased the killer robot doll’s return in the sequel, saying, “It’s still early, but M3GAN is coming back in a big way.
“The first film came at just the right time [when concerns about AI were mounting]and we will definitely focus on that for the next one. We are exploring the universe of artificial intelligence even further.”
Allison Williams he will return to star in the film and they will be joined Ahsoka star Ivanna Sakhno. Williams will also star in the spin-off film, SOULM8TE.
M3GAN 2.0 the release is currently scheduled for June 27, 2025.
