Jim Carrey says he would like to return to play The Grinch from Dr. Seuss’ book-turned-movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) again, but with one major change. When asked which character he’d like to play again, Carrey told ComicBook:
“Oh, boy, you know, if we could understand the Grinch. The thing is, during the day, I do it with a lot of makeup on and can barely breathe. It was an extremely harrowing process.
“The children were always on my mind. «It’s for children. It’s for kids. It’s for the kids.’ And now, with motion capture and stuff like that, I might be free to do other things. Everything is possible in this world.”
One villainous character Carrey is reprising for is Doctor Robotnik Sonic the Hedgehog 3. During the film’s UK premiere, Carrey joked about why he returned for the third installment of the series.
“I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius, which is a little excessive. And you know, it’s just… I bought a lot of stuff and, frankly, I need the money. Yes,” Carrey told The Associated Press.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sees Sonic, Tails and Knuckles face a mysterious adversary known as Shadow the Hedgehog and are forced to form an unlikely alliance with the villain Dr. Robotnik. The film will be released next week in US theaters on December 20th.
I loved Carrey’s portrayal of the Grinch How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I would be willing to see him reprise the role. Would you like to see him make a sequel?
