Ian McKellen, Michaela Coel and James Corden will star in Steven Soderbergh’s dark comedy THE CHRISTOPHERS

Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings franchising), Michaela Coel (I could destroy you), AND James Corden (Gavin and Stacey) will be the protagonists The Christophersthe next film by Steven Soderberghwhich will go into production in London in February.

The Christophers is a dark comedy about the children of a once-famous artist who hire a forger to complete his unfinished works so they can be discovered and sold after his death.

The screenplay is written by Ed SolomonSoderbergh collaborator in 2021 crime thriller No sudden movesMiniseries Max Full circleHBO Murder Mystery Mosaic (released both as a series and as a mobile app) e Bill and Ted face the music (produced by Soderbergh executives).

For two-time Oscar nominee McKellen, recent projects include films The critic, HamletAND The good liar.

Best known for creating and starring in the award-winning series I could destroy you AND Chewing gumCoel will soon be seen starring alongside him Anne Hathaway in David Lowery’s epic pop melodrama Mother Mary for A24. Additionally, she is set to act, write and executive produce First day on Eartha new drama series to be co-produced by HBO and BBC.

A 12-time Emmy winner, known in the United States for his eight years as a host The show is lateCorden starred over the summer in The Constituent Assembly at the Old Vic in London. He later returns as Smithy in the Christmas finale of his acclaimed comedy Gavin and Staceycreated and co-written with Ruth Jones, which will air on iPlayer and BBC One on 25 December.

Most recently, Soderbergh directed Black baga spy thriller for Focus Features, starring Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, AND Regé-Jean Pagewhich will be released in theaters on March 14.

Before then the Oscar winner’s psychological thriller Neon will be released Presencewhich will hit theaters just under a year after its premiere at Sundance on January 17.
