Head of DC Studios James Gunn recently talked about what makes his DC Studios different Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios.
Having worked closely with Marvel Studios for years with his Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Gunn learned a lot about how a big studio like that works, and after that experience, he plans to run things differently.
Gunn saw what wasn’t working at Marvel and cut DC’s guys. He just wants to take his own approach to things and that will help eliminate what Marvel has a habit of doing…fixing their movies and TV shows with a lot of reshoots.
When asked on Threads if DC Studios will ever release an MCU-style pitch, Gunn responded, “It won’t be exactly like Marvel because there’s nothing that gets greenlit before we have a finished script.”
Now, I understand it. But, at the same time, it seems like Gunn is contradicting himself here because DC Studios has started by announcing 10 film and TV projects as part of its “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters” slate.
We know you like the projects The brave and the bold AND Paradise lost they are no closer to completing the scripts.
However, Gunn has previously said that there is a difference between these announced projects and the greenlit ones, so just because these projects have been announced doesn’t mean they’ve been greenlit. Hell, there’s always the chance that some of these movies won’t even get made.
When the announcement came, it was clear that Warner Bros. wanted to have an epic slate of potential future DCU projects to hype fans. There’s a good chance we’ll never see an announcement like this from DC Studios again.
