Idris Elba has joined the director’s cast Travis KnightIt’s live action Masters of the Universe movie, and will take on one of the most badass characters in the He-Man series… Duncan, Man-At-Arms!
Edla joins the previous cast Nicola Galitzine (Purple, red, white and royal blue hearts, the idea of you) as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as his right-hand woman, Teela, and cast recently Alison Brie (GLOW, Community) as Skeletor’s second-in-command, Evil-Lyn. Then there are reports that Jared Leto he is ready for the role of Skeletor.
I actually like the casting of Elba as Man at Arms! He was one of my favorite characters when I was a child and it’s great to see that they chose a strong actor to bring the character to life in this film.
Man-At-Arms is a skilled warrior, inventor, and Prince Adam’s trusted mentor. As the Master of Arms, Man-At-Arms is responsible for developing advanced technologies and weapons to protect Eternia and Castle Grayskull from Skeletor’s forces. He is also a father figure to Teela, whom he raised as his adopted daughter.
Knight, who previously directed films such as Hornet AND Kubo and the Two-Stringdirects from a screenplay written by Chris Butler. David Callaham AND Aaron AND Adam Nee worked on the initial draft.
In Masters of the Universe“10-year-old Prince Adam, who crash-landed on Earth aboard a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword, his only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking him down nearly two decades later, Prince Adam is returned to space to defend his home planet from Skeletor’s evil forces.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam must first uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Masters of the Universe is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films and will be released exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
