The BBC has released the trailer for an upcoming mystery thriller series titled The listenerswhat stars Rebecca Sala as a teacher, who begins to feel a low buzz that begins to disrupt his life.
In the story, “No one else can hear the noise, which begins to become destructive to his professional and private life. This seemingly harmless noise gradually upsets the balance of her life, increasing tension between her and her husband, Paul, and her daughter, Ashley – and despite numerous doctors, no obvious source or medical cause can be found.
“When one of his students, Kyle (Ollie West), claims he can also hear the sound, the two form an unlikely and intimate friendship.”
The show is described as “enigmatic, provocative and disturbing” which will explore “the seduction of the wild and unknowable, the human search for the transcendent, the rise of conspiracy culture in the West, and the longing for community and connection in our times increasingly polarized.”
The listeners was created and written by Jordan Tannahill and also stars Prasanna Puwanarajah, Amr woke up, Gayle Rankin, Mia Tharia, Franco Ashman, Samuel Edward CookAND Karen Henthorn.
The listeners is now available to watch. It looks like he’s going to tell a pretty disturbing story.
