The trailer for the IMAX theatrical re-release of SE7EN and 4K Ultra by David Fincher has been announced

David Fincheris the classic 1995 film View will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a surprise IMAX theatrical release and a 4K Ultra HD+ digital release.

Warner Bros. announced it View will begin its exclusive IMAX run on January 3, 2025. The 4K Ultra HD+ digital release will follow on January 7.

I remember seeing this film in the cinema for the first time. I was 15 or 16 and I was speechless. I loved the movie, but the situation behind watching it is funny because it was a church youth group trip to the movies! Nobody knew what it was when we went to see it, nobody knew what we were getting ourselves into.

Director David Fincher oversaw the new 4K restoration, presented in HDR10 with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Fincher said of the View restoration:

“We’re going to go back and do it in 4K from the original negative, and we’re going to scan it, sample it, do all the due diligence, and there’s a lot of things that need to be worked out,”

He continued: “Because there are many things that we can now add thanks to the high dynamic range. You know, streaming media is a very different thing from the 35mm film negative in terms of what it can actually hold.

“So there’s, you know, a lot of wide open windows that we have to go back and ghost into some cityscape out there.”

Two packaging options will be available: a SteelBook edition and a foldable DigiPak housed in a hard case.

View is a dark psychological thriller that follows two detectives, the expert William Somerset (Morgan Freemann) and hothead newcomer David Mills (Brad Pitt), as they investigate a series of gruesome murders in an unnamed, rain-soaked town.

The killer, John Doe (Kevin Spacey), meticulously stages each murder to represent one of the seven deadly sins, creating a macabre moral commentary on human nature and society.

As investigators uncover disturbing details of Doe’s plan, the case becomes a harrowing exploration of justice, morality, and the fragility of human sanity. The film culminates in a chilling and unforgettable finale that forces both the detectives and the audience to confront the darkest depths of human depravity.
