Disney director Mulan, Tony Bancroftis set to direct a new animated film titled Minibots for Toonz Media Group and Evolutionary Films and Mojo Global Arts.
The film’s screenplay comes from Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines writer Michele Ferrisand the story follows “three young geniuses at a robotics summer camp who create sentient mini robots.”
The film “traces their efforts to protect their creations from a powerful tech company seeking to acquire the technology.”
CEO of Toonz Media Group P. Jayakumar said that collaborating with Evolutionary Films and Mojo Global Arts “was a fantastic experience” and calls the film “a lively and fun adventure”.
John Adams of Evolutionary Films added: “Minibots It’s a story that involves the whole family. On the surface, these are smart kids programming robots, but the real message is one of collaboration, self-expression and discovery.”
Mojo Global Arts’ Sharon Wisnia noted that “the teenagers in the film are relevant today, navigating new friendships while balancing technology and finding themselves.”
The project is scheduled for theatrical release in 2026.
