Here’s an interesting and fun genre film project that’s taking shape. Antonio Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) AND Ben Mendelsohn (Ready Player One) will star in a new horror film project titled Mole people.
The film is about a secret community lurking beneath New York City. The film is billed as “one man’s nightmarish descent into the abandoned tunnels beneath the streets of New York City, where a twisted society hides.”
I’ve heard all kinds of stories about moles in New York and other cities around the country, and I’m surprised it took this long to actually develop a movie based on that concept.
The film is directed by Rob Selvaggio (Host, The Boogeyman) from a screenplay written by Nathan Elston (Succession).
Embankment’s Hugo Grumbar said in a statement: “Mole people feeds a modern audience with shock and thrill, captivating and intense feelings of fear. Rob’s direction is elegant; BoulderLight’s understanding of modern audiences is unmatched, and together, the filmmakers are best in class.”
Producers Raphael Margules AND JD Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures added: “There is something extraordinarily terrifying about urban isolation: the idea that in one of the busiest cities in the world you can vanish without a trace.
“With Anthony Ramos – who is quickly becoming one of the most important men in Hollywood – alongside the legendary Ben Mendelsohn, we have the perfect contemporary combination to bring this nightmare to life.”
