The new WICKED featurette finally shares footage of the actors singing

Evil may be known as a great Broadway musical, but when it comes to marketing the film, there is almost no footage that has been shared of any of the actors actually singing in the film.

It’s so strange how Hollywood is afraid to market their musical films as actual musicals. But today we have a featurette to share with you that shows footage of several actors from the film actually singing.

The video focuses on the fact that during the filming of the film, the cast sang live on set. They just wanted to make sure they brought that energy into the movie they were making.

The featurette comes after a bit of controversy involving the film’s star Cinzia Erivowho lashed out at a fan for creating a fan-made poster that resembled the original Broadway poster. That was a really strange response for a fan of the musical Wicked.

The film was directed by Jon M. Chu and tells the story of how green-skinned Elphaba became the Wicked Witch of the West (Cinzia Erivo), as well as the sorceress Glinda’s journey to becoming known as the Good Witch (Arianna Grande ).

Evil tells the untold story of the witches of Oz including Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition , who has not yet to discover his true heart.

The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastic Land of Oz and form an unlikely but profound friendship. After meeting the wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths.

Glinda’s constant desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself and those around her will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will finally see them fulfill their destiny as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The film is also the protagonist Michelle Yeoh as the regal headmistress of Shiz University, Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Traveling Companions) as Fiyero, a mischievous and carefree prince; Ethan Slater (Broadway Spongebob Squarepants, Fosse/Verdon) as Boq, a selfless Munchkin student; Marissa Bode in her film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s favorite sister; AND Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.

The cast of characters includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two of Glinda’s conniving compatriots played Bowen Yang (Saturday night live) AND Bronwyn James (Prostitutes), and a new character created for the film, Miss Coddle, played by Keala Settle (The greatest showman).

Chu will direct the film in two parts, from a screenplay written by the author of the stage show’s book Vinci Holzmann and composer-lyricist Stefano Schwartz.

Wicked: Part 1 will debut exclusively in theaters on Friday, November 27, 2024.
