Netflix has released a chilling teaser trailer for its dark thriller Woman of the hourwhich was directed by Anna Kendrickwho also stars in the film.
The film is based on the true story of a serial killer who appeared on live TV in 1978 as a bachelor on The Dating Game.
The film is described as a “stranger-than-fiction story of an aspiring actress in 1970s Los Angeles and a serial killer on a years-long killing spree, whose lives intersect when they are cast in an episode of The Dating Game.”
The film’s synopsis reads: “In the 1970s, Rodney Alcala went on a killing spree, luring women by posing as a photographer looking for models.
“Although he was already a registered sex offender and recently released from prison, he appeared infamously on The Dating Gamea show that featured a series of three bachelors each week, hidden from view while a woman asked them funny questions before choosing a winner to go on an all-expenses paid trip…
“As this confrontation serves as the backbone of the film, we are transported back and forth in time, exploring the Alcala murders, with a performance by Daniel Zovatto that captures the disturbing arrogance of a man who knows he is operating in a world too warped to catch him out.”
The film also stars Daniel Zovatto, Nicoletta Robinson, Tony Hale, actressAND My Girl KelleyThe screenplay was written by Ian MacAllister McDonald.
The film will be released on October 18.
