Transformer One It hits theaters later this week and I’m curious to see if fans and audiences will show up to see it.
The film has received a lot of positive reviews, and having seen it myself over the weekend at a special fan screening event, I will say that it was much better than I thought it would be. I don’t think it’s the best Transformers film ever made, but it does tell a strong story.
When Transformers One was first announced, we learned that it was the beginning of a possible film trilogy. The producer Lorenzo Bonaventura he called it a “natural trilogy,” and said it will explore “Cybertron in a way that you’ve never seen, that no one’s ever seen before.”
The producer is now talking about what it will take to get a sequel going. There is one condition under which this will happen, and that is that the first film is a success.
Di Bonaventura told ScreenRant in an interview: “Number one, if we’re successful with this [Transformers] movie, we’re going to make a sequel for this. And we already have, I think, the beginning of a really interesting story for the second one, which is also character-driven, like the first one [is].”
We’ll just have to wait and see if a lot of people will actually believe the reviews and show up to watch it.
He previously spoke about their plans for the sequel and its themes, saying, “We have themes that we want to explore. One theme that we want to explore in the next film is trust. And can you regain it? Or once it’s lost, it’s gone.
“So we’re building it around some big ideas that are also pretty action ideas, but mostly we’re going to move thematically. So now Optimus has become Optimus Prime.
“What will he do now to get all the people of Iacon behind him? [him] and how do you do that? Same thing with Megatron. Okay, you have all the Decepticons. Now what?”
He continued: “We’re going to explore the kind of progression of leadership that I think should be really fun for people, so it’s not a boring topic and what I love about it is that it’s definitely going to fail. It’s definitely going to fail because no leader does everything well.”
Cooley then adds: “There’s a lot more history, obviously, because they’re going to come to Earth eventually.”
This film tells the “origin story of how the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, Orion Pax and D-16, went from brothers in arms to sworn enemies, Optimus Prime and Megatron.”
The stars of the film The World of Chris Hemsworth like Orion Pax / Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry like D-16 / Megatron, Scarlett Johansson like Elita-1, and Keegan Michael’s Key like B-127 / Bumblebee.
Transformers One will hit theaters on September 20th.
