JK Simmons initially turned down INVINCIBLE when he was offered a different role

At the beginning of the development of the adaptation of the Prime Video animated series Robert Kirkman’S Invincible, J.K. Simmons he was offered another mystery role in the story, and he turned it down. If he had said yes, he most likely would not have ended up playing Omini Man, which is a fantastic role for him!

Simmons recently gave an interview to GQ for its video series Iconic Characters and revisited some of his most iconic characters.

Speaking about Omni-Man, Simmons revealed that he was initially offered another role in the animated series. After turning that role down, he was offered Omni-Man just months later.

Simmions said: “Invincible It just came to me out of the blue and I read, I think, the only script available and I thought it was really good.

“They actually approached me to play a different character, and I read it, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is really smart and weird and beautiful.’

“It sounds stupid, because it’s animated, but I didn’t see myself as the character they said they wanted me to play, and I turned it down. Then, I don’t know how many months later, they came back and asked me to play Nolan, Omni-Man.”

Simmons continued: “I don’t think I realized how twisted it was at the time. I was just reading the first script, the first two. So, to me, it was another interesting father character.

“Steven Yeun AND Sandra OhI think we were already involved, and I thought, “They’re both fantastic and I’d love to work with them, even if it was a recording studio doing animation.”

Simmons worked on both seasons of Invincible so far, and he’s been fantastic in this role! Everything went as it was supposed to, and he got the role he was supposed to play.
