The Walking Dead star Dana Gurira revealed that she and the team behind the hit zombie franchise have been talking about adapting the series into a musical. While it may be in a joking manner, she thinks it’s a real possibility.
During an interview with SFX magazine, he said: “I was just kidding about having a musical of The Walking Dead on Broadway. Me and [Scott] Gimple is actually talking about it, which is ridiculous.”
She explained: “He just said we don’t have the rights to it. I’m like, ‘Well, let’s talk to [Robert] Kirkman, listen to what he says about that. I mean, we’re just kidding, really.
“But stranger things have been done, and I love theater… It’s a question of how do you limit it to something? Because it’s just so much history. So would it really be like limiting it to a good two- or three-hour play?”
With so many stories being adapted into Broadway musicals, I wouldn’t be surprised to see The Walking Dead musical come to Broadway one day, complete with dancing zombies and all!
