Peacock has released a trailer for its upcoming coming-of-age horror thriller Satanic Panic Hysteria! and it was also announced that all episodes will premiere on Peacock on Friday, October 18, 2024. I should also mention that Bruce Campbell plays a role in the series.
Hysteria! explores the dark history of American mass hysteria through the shocking tale of the Satanic Panic of Teens. The series follows a group of 1980s high school misfits as they capitalize on the growing hysteria surrounding teen occult activity.
Here’s the full synopsis: “When a beloved college quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late ’80s, a struggling high school heavy metal band realizes they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a satanic metal band – until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings and alleged ‘supernatural activity’ sparks a skin-filled witch hunt that leads directly to them.”
Additionally, USA Network and SYFY will simulcast the first episode on October 18, with USA Network airing episodes every Friday. Watch the teaser trailer for “Hysteria!” below.
The series was created by writers and executive producers Matthew Scotti ((Seamstresses) AND David Good (The Orville), and shared in a statement:
“[The series is] about the thrills of being young, rebellious at spirit and ambitious at heart, and the horrors of growing up and realizing that the world you thought you knew has changed beneath your feet.
“Our hope is that parents and children (of the right age, of course) can enjoy the thrills, laughter, music, and heart of Hysteria together! Growing up is scary. And so is being a parent.”
I remember when this whole satanic panic thing was going on and I was fascinated by it. It’s interesting to look back at the madness of that time and the way people behaved. We see the same hysteria today, it’s just different things that are being focused on. All I can say is that humans are just crazy.
But the series will also have fun with the madness of satanic panic!
Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt Roberts he directed the first episode. John Francis Daley AND Dr. Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons Game Night) are executive producers.
The cast includes Garrett Dillahunt (The last house on the left), Nolan North (pretty Little Liars), Elijah Richardson (Sci-Fi Football), Milly Shapiro (Hereditary), Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13) AND Jessica Treska (Alex and I) that recite next to Bruce Campbell, Julia Bowen, Anna’s Field, Emanuela Anthony, Clear Aurelia, Kezii CurtisAND nikki hahn.
