Jenna Ortega Recounts First Time She Saw Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse ‘I Remember Feeling My Soul Leave My Body’

The sequel Beetle Juice Beetle Juice is now just around the corner, and one of the new stars of the franchise, Jenna Ortegahad the surreal experience of walking onto the set of a movie she grew up watching and coming face to face with Betelgeuse himself.

Ortega spoke about the film and his role in an interview with Vanity Fair, where he described his first time seeing michelle keaton in full costume.

“Every time I walked onto that set, I wanted to remember it for the rest of my life,” Ortega says. She describes a wild church scene with the vigor of a theater kid.

“You have Willem Dafoe’s World in a trench coat, sliding down into a pew at the back, looking at everyone,” he says, as actress he stood there with his old-fashioned pointed bangs. Then Keaton materialized.

“I remember feeling my soul leave my body for a second,” Ortega says of his first encounter with THE Betelgeuse in his encrusted ghoul robes. “And then, between takes, he sits down and drinks his tea.”

In another interview I saw, Ortega talked about how they managed to make Keaton’s makeup look so close to the original film. This threw her off, as it was a character she had seen since childhood, and it was shocking when he suddenly stood before her.

Ortega also revealed to VF that he has developed a close bond with his on-screen mother, the returning star actresswho was something of an original teenage goth on screen. Ryder, now 52, ​​was just 15 when she appeared in Cockroach juice.

“I think she’s naturally very protective of other women,” Ortega says, and the older woman has imparted some wisdom and experience to the younger woman, though Ortega doesn’t elaborate. Ryder added to the conversation, saying, “That kind of trust, the kind I have with her, is a rare and unrepeatable thing.”

It looks like the movie was awesome to make and I can’t wait to watch it! Beetle Juice Beetle Juice will hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
