The Penguin spin-off series based on the director Mattia Reevesthe movie of The Batman is coming in September and the creators have revealed that the HBO series will lead directly into the sequel Batman: Part Two.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with Matt Reeves and the writer and showrunner Lauren LeFranc on the drama set in the world of The Batman. LeFranc explained how this series builds towards the sequel, saying: “We’re the bridge between the two films. We’re going almost directly into the second film Matt [Reeves] he planned.”
Producer Dylan Clark also spoke about the future of Batman, telling EW that there was another TV project the creative team had their eye on, saying:
“There’s another TV exploration that we’re going to do. We’re looking at this whole world in terms of who Batman is, the antagonists that surround him, all the crimes that need to be dealt with in the city, and trying to figure out what are the best areas to explore.”
It seems like there are a lot of interesting possibilities in this universe, but for now Reeves is excited The Penguinand teased him:
“Colin exploded off the screen like the Penguin in The Batmanand to have the opportunity to fully explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill. Dylan and I are so excited to work with Lauren to continue the story of Oz as he violently attempts to gain power in Gotham.”
The Penguin will be coming to HBO this September and Batman: Part II will hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
